In a cold afternoon, Corinthians has a 0-0 draw with Vasco at Pacaembu

On this Sunday cold afternoon (17th), Timão finally got back to Pacaembu stadium. Even having the domain of the offensive plays and Renato Augusto´s good performance, Corinthians could not defeat Vasco in the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship. Coach Tite´s team will be back on the pitch on next Sunday (24th), at 17h (Brasília summer time), when it will face Flamengo, at Maracanã.
 
Timão only needed five minutes to dominate the offensive moves of the game. In the seventh minute, in a foul kick close to the box area, the halfback Douglas almost opened the score. Two minutes later, Emerson gave a beautiful pass with his heel to the left winger Edenílson. After a crossing pass, Romarinho almost scored the first goal.
 
In the 17th minute, Paulo André lifted the ball inside the goal area and Renato Augusto beautifully kicked in one-touch pass, surprising everyone at Pacaembu. In fact, the ball passed so close to the post that the goalkeeper Alessandro got scared.
 
Having a good performance in the field, the halfback Renato Augusto was also improvising in the center forward role and brought danger in the 23rd minute. After a dribble, the number 8 tried a kick from far, but the ball was out.
 
In addition, Renato tried another shot in the 31st minute after a good passes exchange, although his low kick was out as well. Corinthians was dominating the match and Vasco had very few opportunities to score with the Young player Marlone.
 
Second half
 
Without the inspiration of the first half, Corinthians did not create many attack plays. The first shot came in the 10th minute with Emerson. The striker invaded the goal area, dribbled and tried a crossed kick, but the ball was out. In the 28th and 29th minute, Timão tried to score twice with Emerson and Danilo kicking from far, but both failed.
 
Rodriguinho replaced Guilherme and excited the Fiel crowd in the 37th minute, when he tried a kick after dribbling the marking players close to the goal area. On the other hand, Vasco had no chances to open the score and the match ended with no goals.
