They're here, they're there, they're everywhere. Corinthians fans that is. Jorge Luis Pinto, the manager of Costa Rica, will be back in Brazil in June when his team faces England, Italy and Uruguay in the World Cup. None of the games will be played in São Paulo but the coach admitted that is where his footballing heart lies in Brazil. Pinto told the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper he watched Corinthians when studying at the University of São Paulo during the 1970s and became a true fan of the club.

He even attended the historic final of the Paulista state championship in 1977 when Corinthians beat Ponte Preta to end their 23-year trophy drought. "The celebrations on the streets afterwards were incredible," he told the paper.

Pinto said his favourite player of the era was midfielder Palhinha and revealed that he still follows the team's fortunes and watches them whenever he can.

The full interview can be found here in Portuguese.

Pinto is in Brazil to take part in the FIFA World Cup Workshop in Florianopolis. Representatives of the 32 participating teams are in the southern city to discuss logistical issues ahead of the competition that is due to kick off June 12 when Brazil play Croatia at the Corinthians Arena.
