Corinthians drew 1-1 away at Mogi Mirim on Sunday, with Mogi's central defender Mirita taking the headlines with both goals, one at each end.

The point was the first in five games for Corinthians and leaves the Timao in fifth place in Group B, six points off the lead. The top two qualify for the play-offs.

Corinthians went looking for an early goal and came close twice in the first 10 minutes, first when Romarinho tried to flick in a Fagner cross, and then when Guilherme drifted a free kick just wide of the target.

The home side came more into the game and Uendel was on hand to deflect a Morato shot past the post in the 22nd minute. But it was only postponing the inevitable and 15 minutes later Mogi took the lead when Mirita rose unmarked to head the ball home from a corner.

Six minutes later, however, Corinthians were level.

Uendel and Mirita were involved once again and this time it was the visitors who had something to shout about. Uendel got to the bye line and his low cross into the six-yard box went straight off Mirita and into the roof of his own net.

Within minutes of the second half beginning Corinthians almost got their noses in front. Guilherme had a shot well saved by Reynaldo and the keeper was on hand just four minutes later to thwart a long-range effort from Emerson.

The experienced Danilo came on for Zé Paulo and his 55th minute shot was parried only as far as Luis Ramirez but he couldn't make it count.

Reynaldo made another good save from Paolo Guerrero - who replaced Ramirez moments earlier - and in the 73rd minute Romarinho almost broke the deadlock when he hit the bar.

Corinthians kept pressing and Romarinho came close again with a left-foot shot that went narrowly over.

But Corinthians just couldn't grab the elusive second goal and the match finished all-square.

Corinthians next game is the local derby against rivals Palmeiras next Sunday. The game kicks off at 4pm at the Pacaembu stadium.
