A second half penalty from Jadson was cancelled out with just six minutes remaining and Corinthians were forced to share the points in Wednesday night’s league match with Atletico-PR.

The match, which was played at the Canindé stadium in São Paulo because the Timão’s home is being readied for the six World Cup games that will be played there starting next month, was a dull one with neither side creating many clear cut chances.

In the first half Natanael threatened early on for the visitors and Petros and Guerrero came close for the home side only to be halted both times by goalkeeper Weverton.

Corinthians started the second period better than their opponents and Guerrero was once again involved. The Peruvian was felled in the area and Jadson stepped up to hit home the opening goal.

Corinthians kept pushing for a second that might seal the three points but the Atletico defence was strong and they were dangerous on the counter attack.

In the 84th minute, Douglas leveled the score when he got on the end of a cross ball and made it 1-1.

Corinthians next match will be on Sunday against Sport in Recife.
