Two first half goals were enough to give Bragantino a 2-0 win over Corinthians at the Pacaembu on Wednesday night.

Corinthians started well and almost scored in the first minute when a long range shot from Guilherme brought out a good save from keeper Rafael Defendi. Romarinho then saw his shot flash wide in the 10th minute.

And it was Bragantino who opened the scoring in the 27th minute. Felipe's cross from the right took a deflection and squeezed past Walter. And 12 minutes later Tássio got a second for the visitors.

Walter kept Corinthians in the game with a great save at the start of the second half and the home side pushed players forward in search of the goal that might inspire a comeback.

Zé Paulo, one of the stars of the young team that reached the final of the Sao Paulo Junior Cup tournament last month, made his debut for the Timao and came close on two occasions.

A foul on Emerson brought a red card for Francesco and Jocinei also tried his luck from outside the box. But the efforts were in vain and Corinthians went down to their fourth defeat in a row.

The result leaves Corinthians in fourth place in Group B with six points. Their next game is away to Mogi Mirim this Sunday, kick off 7:30 pm.
